Created in 1973 by Bjorn Jakobson in 1973 the Baby Bjorn carrier was created as the result of these reports. To date there have been four different models made and many different color schemes tried. The Air Carrier is made from an ultra lightweight material that consists of a 3D mesh made just for Baby Bjorn. This mesh helps to keep both baby and parent cooler during hot weather or strenuous activity like hiking. Finally the Synergy model is a blend of all of the best features of all the other models and in 2008 was awarded the IF Product Design Award.

Oddly enough despite all of the different colors that have been tried over the years the solids have been the most successful as they blend in with the parents cloths instead of standing out. Of all the solid colors, black is by far the fastest seller with many dads ordering them.
